Weight Scales: To Have or Not To Have

There are two conflicting schools of thought about the benefits and hindrances of owning and utilizing a weight scale. Some people feel that they are better able to keep themselves on track with their weight loss when they weigh themselves weekly. That way, they know the plan they are using is working to their advantage.

Other people feel that using a weight scale can be a huge hindrance to successful weight loss. Your weight depends not only on what you have eaten any given day, but also on water retention, and the time of day you weight yourself. If you notice that you feel differently depending on what the scale says, throw the thing out. Just because you are retaining water doesn't mean your diet isn't working! But, if you are truly a person who is motivated by weighing yourself, do so only weekly on the same day and at the same time of day.
