Another way that some people (especially women and teenagers) think you can jump start weight loss is purging. Purging is when a person makes him- or her-self vomit to get rid of any food he or she had ingested. This is not only dangerous for your body; it is not an effective method of weight loss.

Some people who begin this type of weight loss actually become bulimics. Bulimia is an eating disorder that causes a person to think he or she must vomit after eating anything at all. Some people binge eat first, and then purge to get rid of the bad food. All of these options cause severe trauma to the esophagus and teeth, not to mention the stomach. And because the food does not stay in the person's stomach long enough to digest, the body does not get enough nutrition. Weight loss should be centered on healthy eating habits, not on severe health hazards.
