Making Yourself Sick with Weight Loss

Sometimes a person is so obsessed with losing weight, he or she will do anything to get to the skinny body he or she wants. And while it's a good thing to be concerned about your health and appearance, it is not healthy to be so obsessed that you would do something that would ultimately hurt you.
What I'm talking about is starvation. Starvation, of course, is often seen (especially by women and teenagers) as the best way to kick off a diet. But starvation sends your body into a form of shock that makes it hold on to fat and any calories you give it. You may lose a little weight, but what you are burning is muscle, not fat. And when you do eat, that food is stored as fat immediately because your body is afraid it won't eat again for a long time. So don't starve yourself – it's not a diet, it's a dangerous disease.
