The children's book, The Little Engine That Could, is not only a great lesson for children, it's also a great lesson for adults – especially those adults who have decided to venture into that unfamiliar territory known as weight loss. But if you are currently trying to lose weight, you already know how hard it is to keep yourself motivated. Keep repeating the Little Engine's mantra, and try some other helpful hints.

Find a weight loss buddy; check in with him or her every week to stay accountable. Or, if you are having daily problems, email each other every day. This is like a live, responsive food diary that will encourage you to do better. Don't deprive yourself of your favorite foods; cook healthier hamburgers or buy low-fat cookies. Never skip your scheduled exercise - if something comes up, rescheduling for tomorrow could lead to never!
