Chips, Cookies and Candies… Oh My!

When you even begin to think about weight loss, probably the first thing that pops into your mind is, "ooh, I'd love a candy bar right now," or "I wonder if there are any chips left?" For some reason, our bodies are trained to go right for whatever is the worst thing for us, and then we devour it before we realize what is happening. The trick with successful weight loss is to be aware of this tendency before we find ourselves elbow-deep in a bag of chocolate candy.

Part of being aware is to know your triggers. For example, do you start to drool when a fast food commercial comes on? Does the candy jar on your co-worker's desk beckon you? Try to avoid these temptations. If you just MUST have a cookie, remember that one is enough. Eat it slowly and savor the taste.
